Shopify Managed Markets: Check Supplier Label Eligibility

Shopify's new Managed Markets flat-rate shipping offer gives merchants a reason to review how suppliers obtain their labels. A flat charge at checkout or a familiar carrier name on a parcel does not, by itself, establish that the shipment qualifies for the new label-cost guarantee.

Shopify announced the offer on October 24, 2026. It combines managed international shipping rates with duty-inclusive pricing and protects qualifying prepaid FedEx and DHL Express labels from later carrier cost adjustments. Merchants can preview customer prices, checkout totals and expected payouts before activation. Shopify's announcement

Confirm the offer in each market

Check the settings actually available to your store rather than treating the announcement as proof of universal access. Record the market, available shipping options and whether the managed flat-rate offer is enabled. Managed flat-rate availability

The offer requires duties and taxes to be included in product prices for that market. Shopify sets the managed rates; they are different from a flat rate you enter yourself. Turning off the included-duty pricing also turns off these managed flat rates. Keep that dependency in the review record so a later pricing change does not leave the shipping team relying on an outdated assumption. Flat-rate considerations

Establish where the products are fulfilled

Review the actual fulfillment location before discussing carrier prices. Shopify currently excludes products fulfilled from app locations or custom fulfillment locations, which are commonly used by dropshipping and print-on-demand apps. Supported origin requirements also depend on where the business is based. Managed Markets shipping requirements

An independent supplier's address, its Shopify store and the location assigned to your customer order need to be checked separately. A supplier's ability to ship internationally does not establish that your proposed order flow meets Managed Markets requirements. For example, the program's Canadian location requirements include a same-province condition, while UK locations cannot span both Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Business and location requirements

For a cross-store workflow, ask Shopify Support and the fulfillment provider to confirm the specific arrangement if eligibility is unclear. Do not assume that a supplier order created in another store inherits the original customer order's Managed Markets treatment.

Name the owner of the qualifying label

Agree who obtains the Managed Markets label, how the supplier receives it and which order and parcel it belongs to. The guarantee concerns qualifying prepaid FedEx or DHL Express labels bought through Managed Markets. Buying a different label removes that guarantee; Shopify's guidance says the different label is charged normally and the shipping amount collected for the order is refunded to the merchant. Label-cost guarantee conditions

A supplier's own negotiated carrier account is not equivalent to the Managed Markets label path. Shopify also warns that using negotiated third-party shipping rates does not provide the benefits of Global-e acting as merchant of record. Confirm the intended fulfillment method before allowing the supplier to use its usual postage account. Shipping-service requirements

Compatible external fulfillment services require an additional integration step to purchase Managed Markets labels. An order-routing connection or returned tracking number does not establish that this integration exists. Verify the provider's documented method and the particular order's label, rather than inferring support from the carrier name. External fulfillment services

Review the market's managed flat-rate availability, the product's fulfillment location and the Managed Markets label path. Keep parcel and tracking evidence together. Resolve unclear eligibility before dispatch.

Review the whole customer price

The shipping amount displayed at checkout is only part of this offer's shipping cost. Another portion is included in international product prices. Review the product price, checkout shipping amount and expected payout together; comparing only the checkout shipping line can hide how the offer changes the customer's total. Any optional shipping-cost absorption should also be reflected in that comparison. How managed shipping costs are allocated

Use the product's country preview to examine adjusted international prices, then review the charges recorded on an order. Keep supplier handling charges and your commercial agreement in a separate cost record. The label-cost announcement is not evidence that those supplier charges disappear. International pricing and order review

Test the supplier handoff before expanding

Use a small, controlled review covering the situations your store actually encounters. These are review cases, not a claim that every configuration qualifies.

Shopify requires a separate label for each package and does not support splitting a single product into multiple shipments. Validate the proposed parcel arrangement before buying labels; do not interpret general split-shipping support as permission for every supplier split. Parcel and product restrictions

Keep the customer order reference, supplier reference, location, label source and parcel contents together. With supplier order routing, establish who owns those checks alongside the handoff. Use our supplier customs-data checklist for the shipment's product information. Expand the workflow only after the responsible owner can explain both its eligibility and its price breakdown.
